Technical Project Manager

xMap is looking to welcome a highly skilled Technical Project Manager (TPM) to the team to serve as the primary technical and strategic liaison for xMap customers. The TPM will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth communication, strategic collaboration, and efficient technical service delivery between xMap and its clients. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact between xMap and xMap clients.
  • Serve as a trusted partner in the strategic and operational planning of xMap customers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the customers.
  • Serve as the first escalation point for technical issues and service-related inquiries.

Requirements Gathering & Communication

  • Collaborate with customers to gather, clarify, and document technical and business requirements.
  • Translate client requirements into actionable tasks for xMap’s internal engineering and operational teams.
  • Ensure the smooth execution of agile delivery cycles and maintain alignment with business goals.
  • Conduct regular feedback sessions to assess progress and address challenges.

Customization Oversight & Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee customization and enhancement projects to align with quality standards and client expectations.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service levels.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to technical implementations and service delivery.

Operational Support & Reporting

  • Coordinate with xMap’s engineering and support teams to resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Provide timely status updates, meeting summaries, action items, and performance reports to customers.
  • Facilitate training sessions and knowledge transfer initiatives for customer teams as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must be currently residing in Japan.
  • Professional level in both of the Japanese and English languages.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical project management, program management, or product management.
  • Prior experience working with large enterprises or technology-driven organizations is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies, software development life cycle (SDLC), and IT service management.
  • Experience in GIS related solutions is highly preferred.
  • Experience in cloud technologies, or telecom is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, risk management, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Project management certificate (PMP or similar) is not a must but a plus.
  • Familiarity with personal data protection and data privacy compliance. 

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Knowledge: Ability to understand complex technical systems, software development processes, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, or similar project management tools.
  • Communication & Leadership: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (mandatory); Japanese language proficiency is a plus.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior executives.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to quickly analyze issues and provide innovative solutions.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Salary: Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Employment Type: Yearly renewable contract (full-time, on-site in Japan).

Work Environment & Expectations

  • The TPM will work primarily at client offices, with periodic visits to xMap’s headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.
  • The position requires availability during normal business hours and for emergency escalations if needed.
  • Performance reviews will be conducted quarterly to assess service quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
